New Agent Commission features

Since inception, Mycas has always used a percentage-based payment system for handling agent commissions. That is, at the time of offer, the user will select a percentage amount that will be allocated to the agent whenever an instalment payment is made.

Coming up in version 1.5 is a new, more flexible option for managing agent commissions—dollar amounts! The commission you select for each item in an offer can now be a percentage of the instalment amount, a flat dollar figure per instalment, or a combination of both.

Here’s some examples of how it may be used:

Paying a percentage commission, plus a progressive bonus

In this example, agents will be allocated 25% of the instalment amount whenever the student makes payment, plus a $200 bonus paid progressively across four instalment payments.

Create a new commission item for the agent which consists of a 25% component AND a $50 component. Each offered item that has this commission applied will result in 25% of the instalment and $50 per instalment being scheduled for payment to the agent across each of the four instalments for a $200 total bonus.

Paying a one-off dollar-based commission

In this example, the agent will be paid a one-off fee with no residual payments for further instalments.

Create a new commission item for the agent that consists of a dollar value.

Apply this commission item to an offered item with a single instalment, such as an enrolment fee. Don’t apply a commission to the main course.

When the single-instalment item is receipted Mycas will automatically schedule the one-off agent payment.

Paying a percentage commission, plus a one-off bonus

In this example, the agent will receive a one-off bonus that will be scheduled for payment to the agent as soon as the student pays the first instalment, PLUS a 25% commission on each instalment payment.

First, create a new commission item for the agent that consists of just a dollar-based component (with no percentage amounts).

Secondly, create a second new commission item for the agent that consists of just a percentage-based amount (no dollar-based amounts).

In your offer, apply the dollar-based commission to an item that has a single instalment, such as the enrolment fee. Apply the percentage-based commission to the tuition item as usual.

When you receipt the enrolment fee component the agent will be allocated the dollar-based component, and will be allocated a percentage of all tuition payments.
